The wallpaper shown (left) depicts the gender divide between Jem and Scout. As the story and the chapters progress, Jem Finch sees Scout as being "just a girl" and starts treating like how a woman in the 1930s should be treated. Jem has come to slowly realize the strong divide between the sexes in society as he grows up.
